BackType

Today, we launched BackType Connect, a feature that shows you all the conversations surrounding a particular article or post. It connects the "conversational graph," including tweets from Twitter and comments from blogs, FriendFeed, Digg, Reddit and other social media. Bloggers and other publishers can track where people are engaging with their content, and readers can discover active conversations about the topics that interest them.

Since our launch in late August, the most requested feature has been the ability to follow comments by post. Today, we’re happy to announce BackType Subscriptions which lets you do exactly that. You give us a URL and we’ll let you know when someone comments via e-mail (immediately or in daily or weekly digests) and RSS.

Using BackType, you can now follow comments by:

1. Author
2. Search Term
3. Post

We’re really excited to announce that BackType has been added as an official FriendFeed service. It’s great to follow comments written by people you care about on a service like FriendFeed where you can stream 48 services covering blog posts, blog comments, photos, videos, music and more.

BackType Trends is a small web service we launched today that lets you graph mentions of keywords and topics made in millions of comments. We built it to demo our API – which was used exclusively. We’ve featured a group a searches on the front page with a lot of mentions.

BackType Alerts lets you follow specific search terms and delivers results to your inbox, feed reader and Dashboard. E-mail updates are available as they happen, or in daily or weekly digests. Use alerts to:
