Oct 2nd How Are Companies Using BackType’s API (Part II)

This is Part II of How Are Companies Using BackType’s API?

Since we launched BackType Connect, we’ve seen a growing demand for our API. We serve millions of requests every single day through our free (limited to 1,000 daily requests) and commercial API. Here are just some of the companies using our API to do interesting things:

Disqus

Disqus Comments is a comment system that powers hundreds of thousands of sites. They use BackType’s API to retrieve "social reactions" from across the web to display alongside comments.

Kosmix

Kosmix helps people explore the web by topic, presenting a dashboard of relevent videos, photos, news, commentary and more. They use BackType’s API to retrieve relevant commentary.

PostRank

PostRank Analytics helps publishers track their social engagement. They use BackType’s API to retrieve conversations related to publisher content.

Wibiya

Wibiya enables blogs to integrate the most exciting services, applications and widgets of their choice into their blog through customized web-based toolbars. They use BackType’s API to power Twitter-related services for publishers.

Please let us know how you’re using our API in the comments

I’m a little curious about this integration.. Just testing a little!

Seems the ‘more from author’ link doesn’t quite work when putting in a URL in the website field..

Gives me this > http://www.backtype.com/url/www.drinkupaustin.com

The link will begin working as soon as we retrieve your comments. These are the first comments BackType has ever found for your URL. From now on, you’ll have a comment author profile on BackType.

Thanks for your interest.

Hi there – This is my first visit to BackType and I’m trying to understand how I might use your plugin instead of Disqus plugin. Am I getting this right: If I use WP’s default commenting system + the BackType plugin I’ll get the added functionality of comments gathered from elsewhere on the social web. Disqus adds a host of additional stuff from users’ profiles. I really don’t need the latter but do want to be able to aggregate comments on my posts from around the web.
